Wockhardt UK Limited, a Wrexham-based company situated on the Wrexham Industrial Estate, has supported local mental health charity Advance Brighter Futures (ABF) with fundraising in aid of World Mental Health Day 2022.
Wockhardt UK is one of the largest generic pharmaceutical companies in the UK, specialising in the manufacture and supply of generic and branded products. To support World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2022, staff held an in-house raffle and raised a fantastic total of £248 which has been donated to ABF.
Zoe Whitehead, Business Development Officer for ABF, said: “We want to extend a massive thank you to the whole team at Wockhardt for the generous donation. We’re still a relatively small charity, so any donation, big or small, means the world to us and goes such a long way to helping the local community.”
ABF is also currently working in partnership with Wockhardt by delivering Mental Health First Aid training to staff and helping to set up a team of Mental Health First Aiders, so that they can better support their colleagues with their mental health in the workplace.
Fiona Duncan, Occupational Health Manager at Wockhardt, said: “I initially set up the Mental Health First Aid team here at Wockhardt last April, partly due to the increase in numbers of mental health issues due to the pandemic.
“ABF COULDN’T HAVE BEEN MORE HELPFUL AND SUPPORTIVE”
“I was recommended to use Advance Brighter Futures and they have been excellent partners in helping me set the team up. I also like the fact that they are a charity, and they are local.
“The team continues to grow and have been very pro-active in using their skills to help numerous colleagues, setting up drop-in sessions and helping to organise and run a Mental Health Awareness Day, which we are planning to run annually.
“The team at ABF couldn’t have been more helpful and supportive. The staff here thoroughly enjoyed the course and found the presentation style and content to be excellent. I would highly recommend ABF.”
Zoe added: “It’s been fantastic working alongside Fiona to help set up the team of Mental Health First Aiders and you can really see the positive impact it’s having on the staff.
"More and more people are struggling with their mental health, especially since the COVID pandemic, and it’s only natural that this can potentially end up affecting their work life, so it’s great to see companies like Wockhardt investing in their staff and their mental health in this way.”
