An entrepreneur and author from Connah’s Quay is in the process of having her third book published, with all the royalties from the book sales to be donated to Wrexham mental health charity Advance Brighter Futures.
Katherine Massey, 46, along with 15 women will publish the book called ‘Seen 2’ later this year, with pre-orders possible from late-September before the book goes on sale in October.
Katherine said: “Advance Brighter Futures is close to my heart because I too suffer with my mental health and have felt very alone at times, especially during the lockdowns.
“I wanted to set myself a challenge that would push me out of my comfort zone but, more importantly, my intention was to highlight the incredible work of everyone at Advance Brighter Futures. They are the true heroes – making a real difference to our local community.”
Katherine is a two-time best-selling author of ‘Living with Dolls’ and ‘Seen’. In 2018 her first book, Living with Dolls, topped the charts, knocking Fearne Cotton off the Amazon best-selling top spot. Then in 2021, the first Seen book was launched and became a bestseller in six categories on kindle and paperback, raising over £1000 for charity.
This year sees the launch of Seen 2, where 15 female entrepreneurs share their story of how they stepped into their passion, purpose and power and how they wish to inspire and encourage others to believe anything is possible.
Katherine posted on social media asking for 15 heart-led women to step forward to become authors to be seen and heard, and to inspire other women to speak out. The fearless 15 said “yes” and they have just submitted their first drafts to the editor at TAUK, the chosen publishing team.
Katherine said: “I would like to thank everyone who’s helped in the book writing process and that are helping us to raise awareness of the charity. It’s amazing what we can achieve when we all work together!”
The authors of Seen 2 recently visited Advance Brighter Futures in Wrexham. They met with the charity’s Business Development Officer, Zoe Whitehead, who showed them around the newly refurbished building.
Zoe said: “It was lovely to host some of the authors from Seen 2 and to be able to show them exactly how the money raised from the book will go into helping the community of Wrexham and its people.”
Advance Brighter Futures is a small local mental health charity in Wrexham with a big heart. Its vision is to ensure that no individual experiencing mental health problems feels like they are on their own. As a small charity, it can reach people that larger, mainstream charities sometimes don’t manage to, and focus on highlighting people’s strengths. Its services include counselling, lifestyle coaching, training, and group activities.
Zoe added: “We’re incredibly proud of our work in the community, but we couldn’t do any of it without our supporters. As a small local charity, any donation, no matter how big or small, means a lot to us. We’re incredibly honoured to have been selected as the chosen charity for the book royalties of Seen 2 and the money raised will go a long way to helping the people we support.”
Seen 2 can be pre-ordered from September 28th, during Mental Health Awareness Week, and will be on sale from October 10th.
