CHAT

C – Space to CONNECT

H – Feel genuinely HEARD

A – All about YOU

T – TALK it through

CHAT gives you your own space to talk about life, family stuff, worries, or anything that’s affecting you. You’ll get one‑to‑one support from someone who listens, at your pace, about whatever matters to you.

Who is CHAT for?

Is someone you live with dealing with substance use, mental illness, domestic abuse, or disability?

Then CHAT is for you.

Sometimes the difficult stuff isn’t happening to you - it’s happening around you and in your family. But we know it can still have a huge impact on you.

You must also:

  • live in Wrexham

  • be aged 8 – 18yrs (up to your 19th birthday)*

  • not receiving support from CAHMS or on the waiting list

*You can access CHAT up to 25yrs if you have additional needs

CHAT works best if you:

  • can talk about what’s going on for you

  • have something you know you’d like help with

  • are okay with knowing sessions only last up to 12 weeks

If you’re going through a crisis or feel unsafe, CHAT may not be the best place to get the support you need right now.

We know it can be hard to ask for help but reaching out to someone you trust - like a family member, friend, or teacher - can help keep you safe.

If you can’t think of anyone that could help you right now, there are services that offer support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

What can CHAT help with?

You’ll have one‑to‑one sessions with a qualified counsellor who will give you your own space to talk about what’s going on, how you’re feeling, and anything that’s bothering you.

Say as much or as little as you want – we go at your pace.

It’s a chance for you to talk things through and make sense of how you’re feeling.

Just some examples of what we could help with are:

  • making sense of what’s going on

  • coping better with stress or worries

  • finding ways to express how you feel - especially at home

  • feeling more confident in yourself

  • feeling more listened to and understood

  • making home life feel easier

  • help family relationships feel less stressful

You decide what feels important to talk about in your sessions - we’re here to help you feel supported and make things feel a bit easier.

What does CHAT provide?

CHAT provides up to 12 free sessions of confidential one‑to‑one support with a qualified counsellor.

Sessions be done face‑to‑face at our friendly community building in Wrexham (3 Belmont Road, Wrexham, LL13 7PW). To ease any anxieties you have around visiting our building, you can have a virtual tour here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6QpVSFveUI

We can offer online sessions if that feels easier for you.

Or we can meet in a private, trusted community space you already know (as long as it’s confidential and appropriate for 1-2-1 sessions).

How do I access CHAT?

You can refer yourself to CHAT by filling in our online registration forms online.

Or you can ask a trusted adult, like a parent/carer, support worker, or teacher, to help you with the referral.

If you’ve got questions or want help with the form, you can message us through our website, email info@abfwxm.co.uk or call us on 01978 364777 and we’ll be happy to talk things through with you.

Once we receive your referral, someone from our team will get in touch to find out more about you, and make sure you have all the information you need before starting.
