Team ABF smashes AVOW’s Community Knockout, raising £260

Team ABF took part in AVOW’s Community Knockout on Sunday July 3, 2022. The team of 10, made up of ABF staff, volunteers, family, and friends came together for this fun-packed day of ‘It’s a Knockout’ style games and challenges to help raise vital funds for the charity.

The team were up against eight other teams from Wrexham, including the AVOW Warriors (from AVOW) and the Dynamic All Stars (from Dynamic Wrexham) and finished in an impressive third place!

Zoe Whitehead, Business Development Officer at ABF said: “We all had such a great time. It was non-stop fun and laughter, and it was brilliant to see the community come together. We still can’t believe we came in third place, we’re all over the moon!”

Teams took part in challenges against each other, competing for points for their team. One challenge saw Matt (Training Officer at ABF) dress up as a giant with the help of his teammates Gareth (Lifestyle Coach at ABF) and Celeste (Volunteer at ABF).

The whole team had great fun climbing up an inflatable wall covered in water and foam. Sue (Talking Therapist at ABF) came fully prepared with her bright pink polka dot shower cap!

The team doubled their points on the ‘Egg & Penguin’ race, and they also won first place in the inflatable obstacle course challenge, where they had to make their way across the course whilst balancing a pint of water on their heads.

The team were sponsored to take part by friends, families and colleagues and raised an awesome total of £260! As a small local charity, any donation, no matter how big or small, means a lot to us and the money raised will go a long way to helping the people we support.

Zoe added: “We’re incredibly proud of the work we do in the community, but we couldn’t do any of it without our supporters. So, a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored Team ABF!”.

ABF would also like to thank AVOW for organising such a fantastic event and to all the other teams for creating such a fun, community-focused day out.
